Look for body and sweetness
Chocolate, caramel and nutty flavours come through well in milk. Very bright, acidic coffees can taste thin or sharp once milk is added, so a medium to medium-dark roast is a popular starting point.
Use an espresso grind
A flat white is traditionally made from espresso, so choose espresso-ground coffee or grind whole beans fine for your machine. Aim for a shot that runs for around 25 to 30 seconds.
Our pick for milk coffees
Bondi Espresso is our signature espresso blend, a medium-dark roast with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and nutty flavours, built to hold up in milk. Beach Blend is a sweeter, medium roast all-rounder if you like a little more brightness.
Dialling it in
If the shot tastes sour or thin, grind a little finer. If it tastes harsh or bitter, grind a little coarser. Change one thing at a time and taste as you go.
